2017 Bisson Ciliegolo Rosato, Portofino, Italy $24

Rose comes in many different shades: from the palest pink to cranberry juice red, and all can be delicious. Bisson is an experimental producer from Liguria and specializes in unique, indigenous grapes from the region. Grown along the Ligurian coastline (you can almost taste the sea), Ciliegolo (Italian for cherry) reminds me of the color of strawberry Fanta but on the palate it is bone dry with notes of cherries and red berries. I love getting rose fans to try this as it opens up their world to how complex and varied rose can be.
