Trader Joe's Coconut Body Butter

Smells like eating vanilla cupcakes and sipping pina coladas while on a tropical vacation

Like many of us, I love shopping at Trader Joe’s as part of the joy is never knowing what you’re going to discover. Who knew I needed everything bagel seasoning in my life? Truth be told, I mainly stick to grocery items and have never tried any of their sundry items but on a recent trip this coconut body butter caught my eye. Chicago winters can be exceptionally brutal on your skin so I’m always looking for different types of lotions to add to my arsenal. I also belong to the portion of the population that loves the smell of coconut and it was only $4.99 so I figured what’s the harm in giving it a shot? Let me tell you, this stuff is awesome! It’s thick and creamy but absorbs nicely and doesn’t leave you feeling greasy. The ingredients include shea butter, vitamin E and coconut oil. My skin stays nice and soft with a lingering scent of coconut. As someone who uses her nose for a living, I’m very sensitive to smells and coconut products can oftentimes be too artificial, like bad suntan lotion. This is a much warmer scent, think vanilla and coconut cupcakes. I also like that it comes in a tub with a convenient flip-top lid. I hate when you get to the end of a bottle and you have to bang it on your countertop to get the rest of it out. At only $5, this is an exceptional deal. I’ve paid three times as much for other body butters and this beats them all. Trader Joe’s has a tendency to discontinue items but I’m hopeful this body butter will hit peak cult status and become one of their iconic mainstay items, hello speculoos cookie butter and cauliflower gnocchi! If you don’t live near a Trader Joe’s, you can buy it for a jacked up price on Amazon (I’m joined by a chorus of mostly positive reviews).

No parabens from what I can decipher on the ingredients label and it’s cruelty free.
